Everything Turns

Everything turns,
everything falls, ebbs, comes to an end;
towers collapse, walls crumble, roses wither,

we die

snow melts, rich fabrics fade,
weapons rust, trees decay,

we die

and all we have made will be lost
apart from our words.

Everything turns…

 Lament for Feo

Everything turns

This is my brother,
This is Feo.
He was not a soldier,
He was my brother,
My blood, my flesh,
My burden, my reason.

everything falls, ebbs, comes to an end

How can I live without my brother?
Who will give me back my brother?

towers collapse, walls crumble, roses wither

We are animals,
We work in the earth,
We will return to the earth,
We fall like leaves from trees.
The air is thick with words,
The air is thick with grief.

snow melts, rich fabrics fade

I had dreams for him,
I wanted to protect him.
But I do not hate.
Hatred echoes hatred.

weapons rust, trees decay

This is my secret:
I am proud of him,
I will make a better life.

Everything turns…
